Description

This is a project I was working quite long on. Beginning with a wonderful clear night in september I decided to go on this stunning target with my CLS CCD filter and exposed in three steps of duration. My wish was a final image without outburned core in addition with some nice details in the outer regions with soft colours. You can find a lot of version at which the processing is overdone just to rise up the outer regions and during the processing marathon I came to similar results, which I didn't really like. After several tries I dediced to share this version according to my feeling, that mostly a little bit less is better than too much. Of course this will not match to everyones taste but I hope you like it nevertheless...

Hubble's Cepheid
The marked tiny little star is the cepheid, famous astronomer Edwin Powell Hubble was searching for so long. Basing on the important works of Henritta Leavitt, Hubble could prove 1923-24 using the famous Hooker telescope for imaging on glas photo plates that M31 is not just a nebula of our milky way, but an idependently galaxy with an enormous distance. So this little variable star in the Andromeda Galaxie changed our complete view to our universe in a dramatic way...
